FILM & TV VEHICLE SUPPLY

Film & TV Vehicle Services for Productions Across the UK

CMC brings the vehicle and the supporting arrangements together around the requirements of the scene. Production teams can use the complete service or select the individual support they need.

Vehicle Supply and Sourcing

Action vehicles, emergency and specialist vehicles, vintage and period vehicles, and fully electric options are available for Film and Television productions. CMC can also use more than 35 years of motor-trade connections to locate a required make, model, body style, period or colour when a suitable vehicle is not already available.

The growing electric production range includes saloon cars, SUVs, taxis, commercial vehicles and emergency options, giving productions more choice when fully electric vehicles are required on screen.

Action Vehicles

Vehicles selected around the planned scene, required appearance and intended movement.

Emergency & Specialist Vehicles

Recognisable vehicle types and production assets for scenes with specific operational or visual requirements.

Vintage & Period Vehicles

Vehicles chosen to support a particular era, setting or on-screen character.

Electric Production Vehicles

A growing selection of fully electric saloon cars, SUVs, taxis, commercial vehicles and emergency options.

Vehicle Wrapping, Paint Colour Changes and Preparation

Vehicles can be prepared to match the colour, livery or on-screen appearance required for a production. Temporary wrapping and paint colour changes are available, with the most suitable option depending on the vehicle, required finish and work involved.

Delivery and Collection

Vehicles can be delivered to filming locations and collected when their work is complete. Filming dates, location access and the required arrival time should be confirmed when arrangements are made.

Drivers and Precision Driving

Appropriately insured vehicles and drivers are available. Precision drivers and stunt support can also be arranged when a scene requires controlled, repeatable or more demanding vehicle movement.

Camera-Tracking Vehicles

Camera-tracking vehicles are available for productions filming moving sequences. The planned shot, location and vehicle movement should be discussed so the production can establish what support is required.

FAQs

Questions About Production Vehicles, EV Servicing and Number Plates

Can an actor drive a production vehicle during filming?

An actor may be able to drive a production vehicle, but this must be discussed and agreed before filming. The decision depends on the vehicle, intended action, driver requirements and applicable insurance arrangements.

Appropriately insured vehicles and drivers are available through CMC, along with precision-driving support. Production teams should state who needs to drive, what the vehicle will be doing and where the scene will be filmed when submitting the brief.

Some production vehicles may be suitable for controlled action or stunt work, but the intended use must be explained before the vehicle is confirmed.

Fast driving, collisions, rough surfaces, smoke, fire, vehicle modifications and other higher-risk activity should never be introduced for the first time on the filming day. CMC can provide precision drivers and stunt support, but vehicle suitability and the supporting arrangements need to be considered for each sequence.

Raised 3D characters are permitted on UK number plates when the complete plate meets the current legal requirements. Plates fitted after 1 September 2021 must use characters that are a single shade of black and meet the applicable British Standard.

The plate must also use the correct font, spacing, reflective background and supplier markings. The description “3D gel” alone does not prove that a plate is road legal; its complete construction and layout must comply.

A shorter number plate can be legal when the registration contains fewer characters and the plate still provides the required character size, spacing and margins.

Letters and numbers cannot be compressed, rearranged or moved closer together simply to create a smaller plate. The suitable finished width depends on the registration itself. CMC can examine the registration and intended mounting area before manufacturing a road-use plate.

Electric cars still need servicing even though they do not have a conventional petrol or diesel engine. Brakes, tyres, suspension, filters, fluids, electrical systems and the vehicle battery still require checks.

The correct interval varies by manufacturer, model, mileage and age, so drivers should follow the servicing schedule for their vehicle. CMC services fully electric vehicles, hybrids and plug-in hybrids at its Newcastle workshop by appointment.

Charging problems can be caused by the vehicle, charging equipment, charge port, onboard charging system, battery management system or an associated electrical fault. The warning shown by the vehicle may not identify the failed component on its own.

CMC can carry out EV diagnostics and charging-fault investigation at its Newcastle workshop. Providing the vehicle make, model, warning message and a description of when the fault occurs can help the technician begin the diagnosis.
